Der französische Maler A. Huyot (1872-1968) war Schüler von Henri Matisse. Ab 1912 und bis etwa 1920 schuf Huyot zahlreiche Collagen, die in ihrer Formensprache die Ästhetik der Collagen des Dadaismus (insbesondere Kurt Schwitters) vorwegnahmen. Der französische Kunsthistoriker Gérald Schurr vermutet, dass Huyots Collagen das ausdrücken, was Guillaume Apollinaire "physischen Kubismus" genannt hatte. Auf der bahnbrechenden "Ersten Internationalen Kunstausstellung", die 1922 in Düsseldorf stattfand, war er in der französischen Sektion mit zahlreichen Werken vertreten. - Provenienz: Nachlass von A.
