Sidney Hunt studied at the Slade School of Fine Art, and had his first solo exhibition at The Mayor Gallery, London, in October 1925. A member of the Seven and Five Society between 1926-1932, he was also a poet and edited the avant-garde magazine Ray, which featured the work of leading figures including Kurt Schwitters, El Lissitzky, Theo van Doesburg, Naum Gabo and Hans Arp.
