By combining the most intriguing elements of various snapshots, Hunt reveals a dark humor within American culture. “Fancypants” portrays a man sitting on a porch with his dog, pointing a shotgun at a man in a tie who sits on the steps before him. The setting sun creates a sharp contrast of shadows, heightened by the artist’s use of charcoal. Scott Hunt (American, b. 1958) Working in the tradition of American Realism, American artist Scott Hunt is best known for this charcoal and pastel drawings of humorous narratives based on discarded snapshots found online and in flea markets. Hunt’s work has been the subject of six solo exhibitions and numerous group exhibitions worldwide. As an illustrator, his work has appeared in The New York Times, The New Yorker, The Boston Globe, and GQ Magazine. He is the recipient of a fellowship from The New York Foundation for the Arts, as well as a grant from the Pollock-Krasner Foundation. Two of Hunt’s drawings are in the permanent collection of The Israel Museum, Jerusalem. Condition In overall good condition, not examined out of frame.
