Robert Huff Art for Sale at Auction

b. 1945 - d. 2014

Described as one of Miami's homegrown pioneers, Robert Huff was influenced by the land around him, highly sensitive to the destruction that man has wrought on it, but also to its inherent beauty. He crafted his artwork to reflect the man-made form, natural shapes and confluences that frame the contemporary environment. In addition to landscape, Huff also drew inspiration for his painted and constructed works from architecture, re-casting these elements to form a personal vocabulary of abstraction. Huff's sculptural bent is clear in his art. He used wood and acrylic to create works that could be either a sculpture or a painting depending on the viewer's choice. The work offered here combines painted architectural forms with polished aluminum. Beginning in the late 1960s, Robert Huff lived and worked in Miami-Dade, Florida, where he was a long time professor and head of the Art Department at Miami-Dade College. His work has been exhibited at various institutions including the Lowe Museum, Ft. Lauderdale Museum of Art; Museum of Contemporary Art, North Miami; Ringling Museum of Art and the Bass Museum. Huff had numerous public commissions and his work is included in many private and corporate collections.
