    JOSEF HUBÁČEK 1899 - 1931 - VILLAGE HOUSES

    Est: -

Josef Hubáček was a student of Prof. Otakar Nejedlý. Hubáček's work is aptly assessed by J. Čapek: "He probably wanted to approach the high discipline that classical landscape painting used to be" and V. V. Štech: "He defied the times, their superstition of modernity, cheap pretence and easy achievement of originality." The present work can be placed in time between his earlier works from Německá Rybna with his former classmates from the Academy, where he painted in 1927 and 1928. Technique: oil on canvas, Signed: sign. lower left: Hubáček J 37

    JOSEF HUBACEK (Czech / Bohemian 1899 - 1931) - French landscape

    Est: -

1920s | technique: oil on canvas | 65 x 51 cm | signature: unsigned | framed Lot description The painting by Josef Hubacek, painted in the 1920s, is an exceptional example of the influence of French modernism on Czech art. In this work, Hubacek sensitively combines elements of Impressionism and Post-Impressionism, which were popular in France at the time. The dynamic work with light and the subtle color palette refer to the work of French masters such as Paul Cezanne. This painting, depicting a peaceful rural scenery, demonstrates Hubacek's ability to capture the atmosphere of the landscape while also reflecting the modern painting practices that shaped European art in the first half of the 20th century.
