Gerard Howland is an international award winning theatrical and entertainment designer/illustrator based in both Los Angeles & San Francisco. He began his career in London studying under Margaret (Percy) Harris, of "Motley", at the English National Opera Design School. He has lived in Spain, Germany and in America, where he currently resides. This British artist is the founder of The ASC, The American Shakespeare Company, a purposed 'FilmTheater' entity dedicated to performances of contemporary works inspired by Shakespeare performed in an American traveling "Globe" theater. He has designed over seventy operas and over two hundred plays worldwide. Gerard was the Director of Design at the San Francisco Opera for seven years and has been a concept designer for Walt Disney Imagineering for over twenty years. He is best known in the Bay Area for his creation of the Coke Bottle, Mitt & ‘Splash Landing’ at the San Francisco Giants ballpark. Wired magazine listed him in "Hollywood 2.0" as one most likely to shape the future of the entertainment industry. In the US he has received multiple Drama Logue awards and the IAAPA award for the creation of the Fox Studio attraction "Titanic". Gerard has lectured in universities worldwide and is fluent in German. His works are displayed in several theater museums worldwide and in several prestigious private collections. He is currently writing and illustrating the graphic novel, "Dr. Macropolus".
