Dean Howell (American, b. 1941) Educated in both art and psychology, Howell follows in a tradition of 19th century American and European �gurative sculpture brought into the contemporary world. These determined portraits represent an achievement of both vision and craft through their power and scale. Dean Howell was raised in Dayton, Ohio. He earned a doctorate in sculpture, psychology and art education in 1972 and lived and worked in New York in the 1980s. Howell works with sculpture, drawings and paintings, and also wrote and produced plays and directed artistic �lms which were exhibited in New York. In 1992 he moved to Santa Fe permanently where he lives and works to this day. He has shown at several galleries in New York and Santa Fe as well as the Albuquerque Museum and the New Mexico Museum of Fine Arts.
