    A framed color Victorian scene depicting the imposing Medieval fortification near the Irish Sea. Artist signed in lower left hand corner by E. Stirling Howard (fl.1834-1870). Presented in an antique linen matte with gilt trim and custom wood frame. A framed color print of a Victorian scene depicting the imposing Medieval fortification near the Irish Sea. Artist signed in lower left hand corner by E. Stirling Howard (fl.1834 thru 1870), a Victorian artist who served as President of the Literary and Philosophical Society in the late 1850s and on the board of the Sheffield School of Art during the late 1850s, and was known for his scene paintings and genre pictures. Harlech was built atop a spur of rock almost 200 feet high by the English King Edward I during his invasion of Wales (1282 thru 1289); it is classified as one of the finest examples of the late 13th century and early 14th-century military architecture in Europe.
