Edith Holmes (1893-1973) Australia First visited Europe 1956-57. Second visit, accompanied by her Aunt Ada departing from Hobart on the Oronsay. Spent some ten months in 1958 mainly in Britain, departing the UK in late 1958 for Melbourne abroad the Oronsay, returning to Hobart January 1959. On the voyage home she painted while the boat was docked at Naples, Marseilles, Gibraltar and Aden. Third visit most of the time spent painting on the Continent, often in smaller towns, again accompanied by her Aunt Ada. They sailed for Europe from Hobart in 1960 and returned to Melbourne aboard the Orion later that year.
