        Max Hoenow 1851 Berlin - 1909 Berlin - Waldlandschaft mit Flußlauf - Öl/Lwd. 110 x 137 cm. Sign. r. u.: Hoenow. Prunkrahmen. Vertikaler Riss rest. Hoenow studierte seit 1869 an der Berliner Kunstakademie und war Meisterschüler bei C. Steffeck. Nach Unterbrechungen beendete er zu Beginn der 1880er Jahre sein Studium bei dem Landschaftsmaler Carl Ludwig. Ab 1884 war er regelmäßig auf Ausstellungen vor allem in Berlin und München vertreten.

Beautifully framed Overall dimensions: 27 x 33 cm Provenance: From the estate of a Berlin collector This oil painting by Max Hoenow shows a motif, which is quite typical for the Berlin Artists: The Havel region in Brandenburg. The viewer looks on the river, which slowly flows along a wooded bank. The painting is a little stained, but otherwise in good condition. The frame shows significant traces of age and use. Lower left the image is signed with "Hoenow". The reverse is labelled with: "Gemälde um 1910. War auf Karton aufgeklebt. Gelöst und im Oktober 1994 auf Leinwand und neuen Keilrahmen gezogen." The dimensions are 27 x 33 cm (framed) and 20 x 28 cm (canvas). Max Hoenow (1851-1909) Max Hoenow studied at the Berlin Academy of Art and was a master student of Carl Steffeck (1818-1890). Initially, his work focused on portraiture, but later shifted to landscape painting. For this reason, Hoenow left Berlin for about five years and lived in the Margraviate of Brandenburg and in Saxony-Anhalt. From the 1880s, he completed his studies with Carl Ludwig (1839-1901). Hoenow was a member of the General German Art Association and exhibited regularly in Berlin and Munich.

Her dark hair is tied up with a lilac ribbon. The white collar under her brown dress is held together by a circular medallion. Her upper body is turned to the right, facing the edge of the image. The canvas is mounted on a hardboard and shows some colour losses off as well as a scratch. The frame is in good condition with traces of age and use. Lower left, the painting is signed with "Hoenow". The dimensions are 49 x 35 cm (framed) and 41 x 28 cm (canvas). Max Hoenow (1851-1909) Max Hoenow studied at the Berlin Academy of Art and was a master student of Carl Steffeck (1818-1890). Initially, his work focused on portraiture, but later shifted to landscape painting. For this reason, Hoenow left Berlin for about five years and lived in the Margraviate of Brandenburg and in Saxony-Anhalt. From the 1880s, he completed his studies with Carl Ludwig (1839-1901). Her hair is pinned up. She is dressed in a white lace blouse and a brown robe. Around her neck a beautiful cross is hanging on a wide black velvet ribbon. It is a signed work of the Berlin portraitist Max Hoenow (1851-1909). The painting is in good condition with minimal colour losses and old retouching. The canvas is mounted to a hard board. The particularly beautifully executed frame is in good condition with traces of age and use. Lower right, the painting is signed with "Hoenow". The dimensions are 40 x 51 cm (framed) and 40 x 30 cm (cut out). Max Hoenow (1851-1909) Max Hoenow studied at the Berlin Academy of Art and was a master student of Carl Steffeck (1818-1890).
