Alfred Georges Hoen was born on January 3, 1869 in Bar le Duc and died on November 26, 1954 in Paris. Alfred Hoen left for Paris in 1890. He studied there at the Ecole des Arts Decoratifs and the Ecole des Beau-Arts, where he was a pupil of Gerome. He was a valued portrait painter in France, but also in
the USA. He also painted landscapes, seascapes and genre paintings from both world wars. He settled in France in 1940. Alfred Hoen exhibited in the Salon des Artiestes Francais, of which he became a member from 1910.
