Original American Overseas Airlines travel poster 'AOA to USA - There's Always Sunshine above the Clouds', artwork by Jan Le Witt (1907-1991) and George Him (1900-1982). American Overseas Airways, printed in England by W.R. Roye & Son, 1948, 24 x 38 inches. Light creases and tears on left edge, light horizontal bends, lightly fold at bottom right corner. Else very good with dramatic graphic. American Overseas Airlines was an airline that operated between the United States and Europe between 1945 and 1950. It was headquartered in Midtown Manhattan, New York City.

AOA operated between the United States and Europe between 1945 and 1950. Printed in England by W.R. Royle & Son. Good condition, creasing, tears in margins, paper losses in margins, staining, foxing. Original vintage Soviet propaganda poster for American Overseas Airlines AOA flights to USA featuring a striking graphic design by Jan Le Witt (1907-1991) and George Him (1900-1981), the successful design team Lewitt-Him (1933-1955). AOA is written in large yellow and white letters casting a shadow onto the ground. A white plane flies into the distance, leaving a pink vapour trail through the O of AOA. USA is written in pink and white striped letters. The background fades from black up to a starry blue sky. Formerly AEA (American Export Airlines, 1937-1945) until merging with American Airlines, AOA ran services between USA and Europe from 1945-1950 before merging with Pan Am (now Delta Air Lines). Good condition, tears, staining, foxing, creasing. Country of issue: UK, designer: Lewitt-Him, size (cm): 96x61, year of printing: 1948

Original vintage advertising poster for American Overseas Airlines (AOA) flights to the USA featuring the slogan There’s Always Sunshine Above the Clouds. The colourful design by Jan Le Witt (1907-1991) and George Him (1900-1981), the successful design team Lewitt-Him (1933-1955) features a propellor plane flying through blue sky above fluffy white clouds. AOA to USA is written in stylised orange and blue font, with two large yellow arrows emerging from ‘AOA’ and pointing in the direction of the aeroplane’s flight. The American Overseas Airlines logo is displayed in white across the bottom of the poster. Formerly AEA (American Export Airlines, 1937-1945) until merging with AA American Airlines, AOA ran services between USA and Europe from 1945-1950 before merging with Pan Am (now Delta Air Lines). In 1933, they founded the Lewitt-Him studio and later immigrated to England in 1937. Deeply inspired by Surrealist painting, their work often played with words and images.
