    Printed in 1881 by George B. Ayres from negatives purchased from Hesler after the Civil War; the original 3/4 portrait of Lincoln (O-26) was photographed in 1860 by Hesler. Bears Ayres blind stamp at the lower right margin, and with handwritten "Copyright Geo. B. Ayres, Phila" at the reverse.

    Abraham Lincoln: Oversize Framed Hesler Photograph. 22" x 18" photograph (O-26) taken by Alexander Hesler at Springfield on June 3, 1860. The negatives were later acquired by George Ayres and reprints made in 1891 in various sizes, typically 7" x 9". This is the most desirable large size and is handsomely displayed in a solid walnut frame (not examined out of frame).
