Knut Hertel Sold at Auction Prices

Knut Hertel studied at the Hamburg Academy JAK. He now lives in Berlin, where he has a studio in the art factory HB55. There he also exhibits regularly. In 2008 he received in the Patzenhofer brewery Berlin the Celeste Art Prize. Knut Hertel also worked at the Berliner Ensemble as stage design assistant of the American theater director Robert Wilson for the production of 'The Ocean Flight' and wrote himself a play.

Also the conversation between the two protagonists, a hairdresser and her client that can be read in speech bubbles, refers to 'Andy' and alludes to a quote of Warhol, after which the color of an image does not matter if only it fits to the curtains. Thus, this work comes from a series of five works in different basic colors, after which the work also is titled. 'The Red One' was exhibited appropriately to the subject for six months at the Star hairdresser Udo Walz at Kempinski Plaza Berlin. The painting is signed and dated lower left 'Knut Hertel 2008'. On verso it is titled, dated, signed and inscribed on the canvas '"The Red One" 2008 Knut Hertel No. 3'. It is in very good condition and measures 160 x 160 cm.
