        May. 15, 2014

Molly Heizer (b 1954) Hopi Mastop Kachina & Dog

        Est: $500 - $700

Kachina figure inspired by the Hopi Mastop fertility spirit by listed southwestern Aspen, Colorado ceramic folk artist Molly Heizer (b. 1954). Kachina measures approximately 16.5 x 10x 7.5" and dog 7 x 9 x 4" with a combined shipping weight of about 10 lbs. Native culture and natural history of the Southwest are the focus of Molly Heizer's ceramic totems, animals and kachina figures. Her pieces are embodied by a blend of wisdom and whimsy as she reinterprets age-old tribal folk tales and contemplates nature. Heizer's sense of design and expression, both stunningly original and somehow richly familiar, recalls a deeper shared experience in the collective human mind.
