Martin Heinig (b. 1958), Graukopf II, Painting, 1984

      Est: €500 - €650

Mixed media on canvas Germany, 1984 Heinig Martin (b. 1958) – German painter, master student of Georg Baselitz On the reverse signed and dated ‘M. Heinig ‘84’ Dimensions: 120.5 x 100 cm Frame: 134.5 x 114 cm Very good condition Estimate by Auctionata Expert: 1,000 Euro Martin Heinig’s works are deeply inspired by his teacher Georg Baselitz, not only because of his choice of subjects, such as the head. The artist has said about his art: ‘Why heads? Ideally, the heads are the concentration of the substance of figurative painting. The head explains itself, turns out to be a personality, does not need explanations about space and time: It just needs color to show itself to us – sometimes more, sometimes less clearly. Objectively, it is content with itself, subjectively, you can expect to find a friend.’ Condition: The painting is in very good condition and only shows faint areas of craquelure to the impasto parts. The stretcher measures 120.5 x 100 cm and the frame 134.5 x 114 cm. Martin Heinig (b. 1958) Martin Heinig was born in Husum in 1958. He studied at the Academy of Arts in Berlin from 1979-86 under Wolfgang Petrick and Georg Baselitz, graduating as a master student of the latter. After his graduation Heinig worked as a freelance artist and participated in numerous exhibitions at home and abroad. His works can be found in national and international public and private collections. Martin Heinig lives and works in Berlin.
