Best known for her work that constructs a mediating space between words and images, Michal Heiman is interested in the intersection of viewing and interpreting.What’s on Your Mind? #5 incorporates Heiman’s study of gender expression; Heiman captures a seemingly candid image of a woman sitting. In the series, the women display expressions of boredom, fear or anger. Below the image is written “WHAT’S ON YOUR MIND?” creating a focus on the interior dialogue of the subject, as well as our relationship to her. Michael Heiman (Israeli, b. 1954) Interdisciplinary artist Michal Heiman’s practice includes installation, painting, photography and video. Her work is based on extensive psychological and philosophical research, centering on the themes of art history, politics and gender. Heiman exhibited at Documenta X in 1997, and her work has been the subject of numerous international exhibitions. She was the recipient of the first Shpilman International Prize for Excellence in Photography, which was accompanied by a solo exhibition at the Israel Museum in 2012. The artist currently lives and works in Tel Aviv, Israel. Condition Appears in overall good condition, unexamined out of frame.
