      Mixed media of acrylic, sand and other materials on cardboard, laid down on hardboard Germany, 1990s Josef (Jupp) Hegemann (1910-1996) – German painter and representative of Art Informel With two inscribed signatures at the lower end ‘Josef Hegemann’ Dimensions: 70 x 50 cm Studio frame: 73 x 53 cm Very good condition Provenance: Estate of the artist     Condition: The work is in very good condition with only small traces of age and wear. The cardboard measures 70 x 50 cm. The pieces of the frame have been loosely plugged in the hardboard. The framed overall dimensions are 73 x 53 cm. Josef (Jupp) Hegemann (1910-1996) Josef Hegemann was a representative of Art Informel and is well-known as a co-founder of the artist’s association ‘Ring bildender Künstler’ in Wuppertal in 1947. After WW2 he was part of the first German exhibition in Warsaw and Krakow, alongside with Otto Dix. In addition to his artistic activities Josef Hegemann was also active as an art teacher in Hagen/Westphalia.
