London: Carington Bowles, [late 18th century]. Oblong folio (199 x 313 mm). 24 engraved plates, 23 of which are hand-colored. Original marbled wrappers, rebacked, custom crimson Levant morocco-backed clamshell case. Infrequent foxing, a few leaves with dampstain in upper margin, small repair to final plate, mild wear to wrappers. Provenance: Margaret Man (contemporary inscription from Richard Man, Esq. to title). An attractive work with engravings after German-born artist and engraver Augustin Heckel who spent most of his career in England. Very little of his work survives.
