The current highest auction record for a painting by Hay is more than € 10,000 Condition: The painting is in good condition, showing minor craquelure, two small stains to the lower right and some pigment losses along the margins due to framing. The frame shows only slight signs of use. The size of the painting is 31 x 26 cm, and the frame measures 47 x 41 cm. William M. Hay (c. 1820-1900) The English painter William M. Hay painted portraits, genre scenes and religious motifs. His portraits, executed mainly in oil, features particularly depictions of women. Between 1852 and 1881, he exhibited his works in London, including the prestigious Royal Academy. Hay’s works are traded at international auctions.
