Originaltitel Stimmungsvolle, in weich-pastosem Duktus gemalte Impression im Hochschwarzwald, die in Licht und Kolorit meisterlich das Farbenspiel der Sonnenstrahlen auf den verschneiten Berghängen einfängt. Charakteristisches Werk Hauptmanns, der wie kaum ein anderer, Schneelandschaften von großer Stimmungstiefe schuf und eine ausgeprägte Liebe zu den Bergen besaß. Besonders seine winterlichen Ansichten aus dem Schwarzwald fanden rasch ihren Sammlerkreis und machten ihn weithin bekannt. The drawing served Hauptmann as a model for the oil painting of the hotel Hebelhof (G14-1), which he painted in 1914 and is named after the Alemannic poet Johann Peter Hebel. The special feature is that it is a residential mill in which day labourers worked to supply the Rankhof with flour and which, at the same time, with its kitchen, living room, stable, barn and small farm garden, made it possible to run an independent household. Built in 1802, the Rankmühle features as a cultural monument until today typical Black Forest architecture and thus symbolises the closeness to nature and down-to-earthness of rural life in the Black Forest. Hauptmann depicted the combination of Feldsee and Seebuck several times in the mid-1930s as a subject for his works. A today partially lost mural in the Feldbergerhof also shows this motif. Looking across the lake, far above at the highest point of the Seebuck, a landmark of the Feldberg peak, the Bismarck monument, can be seen. Blickt man über den See, so sieht man weit oben auf dem höchsten Punkt des Seebucks das Bismarckdenkmal, ein Wahrzeichen des Feldberggipfels.
