Painter Gerald Harvey, born in the United States in 1933, is well-known for his iconic oil paintings of an older America, with settings in the 1800s and just after the turn of the century. Harvey studied at North Texas State University, and he began his career teaching industrial art at a Texas middle school, during which time he started creating oil paintings.
