Painter, b. 1926 - d. 2015

Artist Ted Harrison first studied at the West Hartlepool School of Art. After getting his teaching certification from the University of Durham, he taught art for nearly 30 years. He immigrated to Canada in the 1960s, where he continued to teach and paint. Ted Harrison's acrylic paintings captured Yukon landscapes using surreal imagery, sharp lines, and bright, bold color.

There is a childlike innocence to Ted Harrison's prints, which translated well when he began to illustrate children’s books. His contribution to the art and culture of Canada earned artist Ted Harrison entry as a member of the Order of Canada in 1987. He was received into the Royal Conservatory of Arts in 2005. Four years later, he presented the University of Victoria with a large mural.
