        Wardrobe Malfunction (for Parkett 82)

        Est: €300 - €500

HARRISON, RACHEL 1966 New York Title: Wardrobe Malfunction (for Parkett 82). Date: 2008. Technique: Colour lithograph and colour offset. coated card. Depiction Size: 67,5 x 47cm. Notation: Signed, dated and numbered. Publisher: Parkett-Verlag, Zurich (publisher). Number: 1/48. Frame: Framed. Condition: Verso mounted. Otherwise in very good condition. The musician Prince is depicted. With Parkett magazine. "To ask what these images want, then, is having to face the possibility that perhaps they want nothing at all, or nothing in particular. Except, of course, to stun and fascinate: to be allowed to 'matter,' to be taken into account, to be seen. And something in this scenario is of course reminiscent of the highly theatrical productions of rock, its quasi-ritualistic deployment of 'looks' and 'images' that revel in the crude, the incongruous, the over-sophisticated, and the plain stupid - in short, in the big whatever." Feb. 21, 2015

Rachel Harrison, C-Print, 'Untitled', USA, 2004

        Est: $3,200 - $4,000

C-print USA, 2004 Rachel Harrison (b. 1966) - American sculptor and assemblage artist 'Untitled' Numbered on a label affixed to the reverse '9/10' Framed and matted Dimensions: 11 x 14 in. (27.9 x 35.6 cm.) Overall dimensions: 17 ¼ x 19 ½ in. (43.8 x 49.5 cm.) Very good condition Often using sculptures as a display device for photographs, American artist Rachel Harrison works seamlessly between two- and three-dimensions. This image of a photograph of Marilyn Monroe exemplifies the artist's interest in pop culture and the diversity of her artistic language. Executed in 2004, this c-print by Rachel Harrison is numbered nine from an edition of ten. Framed and matted, the work measures 11 x 14 inches. Rachel Harrison (American, b. 1966) Born in New York, American artist Rachel Harrison developed an eclectic sculptural language after receiving her BA in fine art from Wesleyan University. Often juxtaposing abstract forms with seemingly ignoble materials (aluminum cans, jars of honey), her work is filled with pop-cultural and historical references. The resulting works, which mix the languages of Minimalism and Pop Art, are powerful as three-dimensional structures and as assemblages of two-dimensional imagery. The artist's works have been the subject of numerous solo and group exhibitions, and were shown at the 2000 and 2008 Whitney Biennials. Her work is in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art, New York; the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York; Centre Pompidou, Paris; and the Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam among many others. Harrison currently lives and works in New York.
