Professionally framed and matted. In Frame 25 1/4"x21 1/4"x1 1/4". Weight 8 pds. PROVENANCE: A Private Charleston SC Estate. Artists Statement: "I was born in 1963 on a Naval Base in Keflavik, Iceland. Growing up, I lived in many places, from Alaska to South Carolina. I always enjoyed painting and drawing but received no formal training. At the University of South Carolina, I earned bachelor's degrees in Business Management and Management Science. After graduating in 1985, I went to work for Electronic Data Systems (EDS) and General Motors in Detroit, Michigan. I was employed there for five years as a Software Systems Engineer. In 1990, I became a Senior Consultant with Price Waterhouse in Charlotte, North Carolina. On February 1, 1992 I quit my corporate career and moved back to South Carolina to fulfill my dream of becoming an Artist. Today I travel and exhibit my work at juried art festivals throughout the United States."

      A significant collection of archival material relating to the artist Geoffrey Harris (1928-2019), consisting mostly of gelatin prints by Hugh Gordon of the artist's sculptures and drawings, as well as photographic negatives and Kodak envelopes of small prints (two envelopes inscribed 'Mr Henry Moore') and a copy of the catalogue from the artist's 1964 solo exhibition at the Leicester Galleries, London.       Geoffrey Harris, British 1928-2019- Maquette for 'Generations', c. 1964; resin, 30x19x25.5cm (ARR) Note: this is the maquette for a large public sculpture commissioned by London County Council for the Maitland Park Estate in the Borough of St Pancras (now Camden), London as part of their Patronage of the Arts scheme. The sculpture was completed and installed in 1964. It celebrates the theme of community and multi-generational families that was embodied by the newly built estates around London, and shares similarities with Henry Moore's 'Family Group' sculpture. Geoffrey Harris was born in Nottingham in 1928 and studied at Leeds College of Art and the Royal College of Art. He worked as an assistant for Leon Underwood, David John, and William Bloye and lectured at several art colleges including Birmingham, Stourbridge, Bromley, and Ravensbourne. However, he is perhaps best known for, and his work most influenced by, his period working as a studio assistant for Henry Moore from 1957-1960. Harris had solo exhibitions at the Leicester Galleries and the Queen's Square Gallery in 1964. Lots 169 to 180 all come from the artist's studio. Please refer to department for condition report
