    Perkins Harnly (American, 1901-1986). Gouache and watercolor on white wove paper along with a framed exhibition poster for his exhibition entitled "Perkins Harnly From the Index of American Design" at the National Museum of American Art in Washington D.C. October 16, 1981-February 15, 1982. Gouache picture depicts four statues and a sausage beside a pool of water, thought to be a rendition of the Modern Art Museum in Los Angeles. In a tan mat with a gold leaf frame and glazed. Perkins Harnly was born in Nebraska and later moved to Los Angeles, New York, and back to Los Angeles where he remained until his death. He is best known for his intricate depictions of interiors and after a pause in production he began experimenting with the use of pop-art food in his art. PROVENANCE: Private collection, Gift to Raphael Perl, Henry Warshaw, the artist. MEASUREMENTS: Gouache, 22" x 28-1/4". Poster, 30-1/2" x 21". Overall with frame Gouache, 30-5/8" x 36-1/2". Poster, 36" x 24-1/4". CONDITION: Wear to the frame.
