        Charles Stewart Hardinge (1822 - 1894). Pair of hand-tined lithographs, from "Recollections of India." London, ca. 1847. Both attached to original backing. Includes: * Kashmir: "Gulab Sing," 14.5" x 11", some slight edge-tone, backing lightly soiled. * Kashmir: "Wulur Lake," 14.75" x 10.5", toned. ******************** Charles Stewart Hardinge accompanied his father (Sir Henry Hardinge) to India as private secretary, and was with him during all the period of his governor-generalship. While there, he made many drawings, from which these lithographs were produced. "The most interesting of these are portraits of Sikh chieftains and views of scenery in Kashmir, then an almost unknown country..." -- (DNB)
