Marcel Harang Art for Sale and Sold Prices

Marcel Harang was born in Paris in 1910, he inherited his talents from his mother's family, as she and her entire family were musicians and sculptors. Harang, from his early years, wished to become an artist and he started working form engravers to getenough money to pay for his studies. He studied at the Academie Julian in Paris.

It has been told that he was twice awarded the Gold Medal which is the highest award in French Art but he refused to accept it, stating that he did not seek that kind of fame. In his own defense, he points out that Utrillo and Picasso, who did likewise, did alright for themselves. Marcel Harang was known to have exhibited his works at the Salon de L' Art Libre and the Salon de Paris. Before the war (1939-1945) Harang paintedwith a brush. He joinedthe French Army at the outbreak of the war, was soon captured, tried to escape twice, spent 5 years in a German concentration camp and cameout a completephysical and emotional wreck. It was then that he developed his new technique and proceeded to paintexclusively with a palette brush.
