It shows a three-mast sailing ship on high, stormy seas with dramatically clouds in the background. The picture is signed on the lower left ‘Willy Hanken Hamburg‘ and in a good condition with light signs of age. It is slightly yellowed and shows some nicotine streaks. The overall dimensions are 80 x 120 cm. Willy Hanken (1866-1953) Wilhelm Hanken, also known as Willy, born 1866 in Burhaven (Oldenburg), was a German marine painter and advertising artist. He had a professorship in Hamburg and painted mostly oil paintings of ships at high sea. (vwe) Shipping costs excl. statutory VAT and plus 2,5% (+VAT) shipping insurance.
