J HAMBRIDGE PENCIL SKETCH, FALL OF WEATHER BALLOON

      Est: $200 - $400

Pencil drawing by Jay Hambridge (American, 1867-1924) that appeared in Century Magazine. Mr. Hambidge was an American artist who formulated the theory of "dynamic symmetry," a system defining compositional rules, which was adopted by several notable American and Canadian artists in the early 20th century. Here is a piece of his original art, made for Century Magazine in 1895. This was drawn for a piece titled "The Fall of a Weather Balloon" and has two versions of the falling balloon and the main subject matter. Signed by the artist, once in the drawing. Comes with the original page from Century Magazine affixed to the front open space area. This piece is held in a black frame and does not have glass on the front.
