      Est: £2,500 - £3,500

Josephine Halvorson, American b.1981- Wilmott 3, 2012; oil on linen, signed and dated verso, 114.3 x 73.6cm (unframed) Provenance: Galerie Nelson-Freeman, Paris, where purchased by the present owner Note: This work is by the American artist Josephine Halvorson. This work, as is typical of Halvorson’s art, replicates the world around her through the medium of paint. Despite the apparent mundanity of the painting’s subject matter, Halvorson’s intense focus on the unremarkable and overlooked demonstrates a heightened awareness of the world around her, and the immediate emotions and impressions which everyday items and experiences elicit. Her work has been the subject of multiple solo exhibitions at Sikkema Jenkins & Co, the Institute for Contemporary Art in Boston, and the Southeastern Centre for Contemporary Art in Winston-Salem. It has also been included in group exhibitions at the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art, the American Academy in Rome, and the Samsung Museum of Art in Seoul.
