Der thematische Fokus liegt aber eindeutig auf der weiten Hügellandschaft mit ihren Felsformationen und Bäumen. Das Motiv beruht auf einer Vorlage, die von Halm links unten mit "nach ALucas" bezeichnet hat.

    Rettung. Öl auf Leinwand. Monogr., nicht dat. (um 1930). 90 x 80 cm. (111) - Krobshofer erhielt seine künstlerische Ausbildung ab 1903 an der Akademie der Bildenden Künste in München bei Carl von Marr (1858-1936), Peter Halm (1854-1923) und Julius Exter (1863-1939). Er stellte sowohl auf der Münchner als auch in der Wiener Sezession aus und arbeitete in München, Berlin, Leipzig und Naumburg (s. Los XXXX). - Auf dem vorliegenden Gemälde ist ein Reiter zu sehen, der von seinem Pferd abgestiegen ist, um einer am Boden liegenden Person zu helfen. Diese liegt völlig entkräftet und nur mit einem Lendenschurz bekleidet am Boden. Es ist denkbar, daß die Kriegserinnerungen Krobshofers eine Rolle bei der Entstehung des Bildes gespielt haben (siehe auch unser Los 3229).
