    Est: $5,000 - $7,000

PAM HALLANDAL (1929-2018) Shopping Plaza 1991 charcoal, pastel and ink on paper signed lower left: HALLANDAL title inscribed verso 173 x 31.5cm PROVENANCE: The Artist Private collection, Melbourne EXHIBITIONS: Paper Walls, Glen Eira City Council Gallery, Caulfield, 7 - 24 March 2019 OTHER NOTES: "Like many female artists of her generation - and one who focused on the less 'privileged' disciplines of drawing, printmaking and sculpture - Pam Hallandal had a lower public profile than many of her contemporaries, but her work was highly regarded. Hallandal's great subject was the human condition, with the human figure as a vehicle for imaginative, and empathetic, experience. Her subjects extended from those closest to her, to her fellow citizens of Melbourne in the streets, casino or supermarket." (Art Gallery of New South Wales, Sydney) Pam Hallandal was distinguished as the first female to receive the Dobell Prize for Drawing at the National Gallery of New South Wales, and remains the only female to have won this accolade twice, first in 1996 and then in 2009.
