    Sidney Hall (1788-1831) Sidney Hall (1788-1831) A portfolio of early 19th century celestial charts to include: Ursa Major, Pegasus and Equuleus, Orion, Cassiopeia, Lynx, Aurica, Taurus Poniatwoski Serpentarius, Monoceros Canis Minor, Bootes Canes Venatici and Coma Berenices, Draco and Ursa Minor, Lacerta Cygnus Lyra Vulpecula and Anser, Delphinus Sacitta Aquila, Camelopardalis Tarandus and Custos Messium, Noctua Coryus Crater Sextans, Cepheus, Gloria Frederici Andromeda, Cetus Apparatus Sculptoris hand-coloured engravings on card 14 x 20cm, unframed (17) Sidney Hall was an engraver and cartographer. He worked at a time when cartography and atlases were very popular, and some of his best works were his maps of the United Kingdom and of the ancient world. A boxed set of celestial cards, entitled 'Urania's Mirror' was published in 1824 by Samuel Leigh of the Strand, London. Hall was the engraver, although the identity of the designer was not disclosed. The images are very similar to those in Alexander Jamieson's 'Celestial Atlas' published two years earlier.
