On close inspection, there are very fine, old surface cracks mostly in the upper centre and centre of the composition. These are old, stable and just visible in the enlarged online catalogue image. Under ultraviolet light inspection, there is no evidence of past restoration. The work is housed in an ornate timber gilt frame with gilt slip under glass
