    ISTVÁN HAÁSZ (Hungary, 1946). Untitled, 1988. Oil on canvas. Frame by the author. Size: 103 x 83,5 cm. István studied from 1975 to 1979 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Budapest and was a lecturer at the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design in Budapest from 1988 to 2008. Since the 1970s, his work has been shown in numerous solo and group exhibitions, both nationally and internationally. In 1992 he was awarded a DAAD scholarship in Worpswede, in 1996 he received a grant from the Pollock-Krasner Foundation in New York and in 2002 he was awarded the Munkácsy Prize. Since 2006 he has been a full member of the Open Structures Art Association (OSAS) and since 2009 a full member of the Széchenyi Academy of Literature and Art. His works can be found in several prestigious museums and private collections. István Haász's work explores the relationship between surfaces and the resulting spatial effects. His use of compositions based on lines, rectangles and colours creates a dramaturgy that humanises geometry.
