Gustav Gurschner Art for Sale and Sold Prices

Sculptor

Born in Germany in 1873, Gustav Gurschner was a sculptor who created functional objects using the Art Nouveau style. Using the whirling, organic lines that were popular in that movement, his lamps, doorknobs, vases, and other objects are works of art designed to be incorporated into everyday life. Gustav Gurschner studied at the School of Applied Arts in Vienna and then apprenticed under several artists in Paris to hone his craft and design his own sculptures.

Many of Gurschner’s pieces, such as his figural bronze lamps, feature female figures surrounded by swirling sculpted fabric to create the Art Nouveau look. His sculptures for sale embodied some of the principles of the movement: excellent workmanship, modern designs, and bringing fine and applied arts closer together. You can explore the many vintage sculptures on offer online at Invaluable to add to your personal art collection.
