Condition: Excellent condition. A rich velvety impression with bold colors, likely never framed. Salammbo (1862) is a historical novel by Gustave Flaubert (1821-1880). It is set in Carthage during the 3rd century BC, immediately before and during the Mercenary Revolt which took place shortly after the First Punic War. "Salammbo," the main character was popularly depicted by many artists including Auguste Rodin, Alfons Mucha, Theodore Riviere and Guston Bussiere to name a few.
