    Giovanni Battista Guglielmada (fl. 1660-1689) Cardinal Camillo Massimo, bronze medal, 54mm., extremely fine, fitments at 12 and 6 o'clock, warm brown patina Obverse: bust of Cardinal Massimo in profile to the left, wearing berretta and mantel, CAMILL S R E P C MAXIMVS, signed on truncation I B GVLIELM F Reverse: the River Tiber reclining against an upturned vase, holding a rudder in his left hand and gesturing with his right, the she wolf and twins beside him, before an altar with a laurel wreath, books, dividers, and an astrological globe, the zodiac sign Leo above, ASTRA TENET above, ANT DE CAVA-LERI IS DD 1678 Cardinal Camillo Massimo (1620-1677), Papal Nuncio to Spain 1654, Cardinal 1671, was born under the sign of Leo which also formed part of the family coat of arms. He was a dedicated humanist, produced a new edition of Virgil, and was an avid collector of antiquities and medals.
