      Steel engraved portrait, "LINCOLN" of President Abraham Lincoln, measuring 23" x 29.5", the largest engraving produced at that time, printed by William Pate & Company, New York. After Lincoln's assassination, many artists sought to commemorate the fallen President. John H. Littlefield, a Presidential Campaign worker for Abe Lincoln during the election of 1860, commissioned Henry Gugler, a well respected Vignette Engraver for the United States Bureau of Engraving and Printing, to create this engraving from which commemorative prints could be sold. This took the artist two year to complete. Measures 29.5"T x 23"W images size, framed under glass overall 39" x 29.5". Condition: Not examined out of framing, which appears to be of the period, under rolled glass. Paper time toned.
