The dimensions of the table bells measure 2.3 x 5.7 cm and 2 x 4 x 6.7 cm.  Jakob Gruber (1864-1915) Gruber was born as the son of a miner on the 23rd of July, 1864 in Winterstall am Dürrnberg near Hallein and began his studies in 1878 at the technical college for woodcarving in Hallein. Subsequently he initially worked as wood carver and draftsman. After three years of military service Gruber studied at the art academy in Vienna from 1888-91, where he was taught by Otto König. From 1892-98 he was taught by Caspar von Zumbusch at the Academy of Fine Arts. The Schwendenwein travel grant enabled him to travel to Rome, Florence and Naples in 1898. From 1902 onwards, Gruber was a member of the Viennese association of artists. In his early years, Gruber’s style was shaped by reminiscences of Baroque and Classicism, while in the later years it was more of a flowing stylization according to Art Nouveau. His oeuvre consists of numerous figures and reliefs, including portrait-reliefs, plaster statuettes and life-size compositions. Gruber's works can today be seen among others in the Hessian State Museum in Darmstadt, the Salzburg Museum and the Museum of Arts and Crafts in Hamburg.
