Henry Grossman (October 11, 1936 – November 27, 2022) was an American photographer, best known for his portraits of notable figures, in particular President John F. Kennedy and The Beatles, as well as prominent political figures, writers, and performing artists. Through much of his career he was a staff photographer for Life magazine. His photographs feature portraits that include Lyndon Johnson, Richard Nixon, Kurt Vonnegut Jr, Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton, Luciano Pavarotti, and Barbra Streisand.

        Vintage gelatin silver press print England, Weybridge, 1965 Henry Grossman (b. 1936) - US-American photographer Inscribed in ballpen in left margin 'John Lennon & Son Julian' Verso copyright stamp Life magazine in purple, dated 1965, further stamp in black, copyright Grossmann and further inscriptions Depiction: 24 x 16,2 cm Very good condition Henry Grossman is mainly known for his photographs of The Beatles; the auction record for one of his photographs is currently set at more than €11,000 This is one of the rare photographs from the private life of John Lennon (1940-1980), taken in 1965 by Henry Grossman in Lennon's house in Weybridge, England. Lennon is playing gyroscope with his son Julian, who at the time was only two years old. The little boy is looking full of enthusiasm at his father and Grossman created with this shot a unique piece of the legendary band member of The Beatles. The photograph is inscribed in ballpen in the left margin 'John Lennon & Son Julian'. Verso are the copyright stamp Life magazine in purple, dated 1965, a further stamp in black, the copyright Grossmann and further inscriptions. The photograph shows handling creases, bumped corners and folding marks in the lower right and upper left area. The depiction measures 24 x 16,2 cm and the dimensions of the sheet are 25.3 x 20.5 cm. Henry Grossman (b. 1936) A native of New York City, Henry Grossman began his artistic education with studying photography at the Metropolitan Vocational High School in New York and Theater Arts at the Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts. Later he studied acting with Lee Strasberg together with Dustin Hoffman. At the beginning of his career he shot series and covers for Life Magazine, The New York Times, Time Magazine, Newsweek and Paris Match for example. He was employed as a staff photographer of Life Magazine. Grossman's photographs include prominent political figures, especially the Kennedys, as well as artists and musicians like The Beatles.
