      HERMANN GROM-ROTTMAYER* (Vienna 1877 - 1953 Vienna) Gazing Out the Window oil/canvas, 70 x 55,5 cm signed Grom-Rottmayer ESTIMATE °€ 1600 - 3000 STARTING PRICE °€ 1600 The Austrian landscape and genre painter and lithographer Hermann Grom-Rottmayer studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna with Alois Delug and then at the Munich Academy with Ludwig von Herterich. He later taught at the art school for women and girls in Vienna and from 1926 worked as a professor at the Vienna University of Technology. He founded a seminar for theater production, artificial lighting and advertising through light in Vienna. Grom-Rottmayer was a member of the Vienna Secession from 1910 to 1939 and a member of the Künstlerhaus Vienna from 1939. His most famous student was Helene von Blaas. Louise Bittner, Grom-Rommayer's wife, was the sister of the composer Julius Bittner). Paintings can be found in the Albertina, the Army Museum and the Historical Museum, among others. PLEASE NOTE: The purchase price consists of the highest bid plus the buyer's premium, sales tax and, if applicable, the fee of artists resale rights. In the case of normal taxation (marked °), a premium of 24% is added to the highest bid. The mandatory sales tax of 13%, for photographys 20%, is added to the sum of the highest bid and the buyer's premium. The buyer's premium amounts to 28% in case of differential taxation. The sales tax is included in the differential taxation.
