Lucas Grogan Art for Sale and Sold Prices

b. 1984 -

Australian artist Lucas Grogan draws on aboriginal Australian crafts as inspiration in his paintings and drawings. In his own words, the artist is “interested by the demarcations, prejudices and collisions between competing and/or colliding cultures, and knew I wanted to create work about these problems.” His ornate works include bright colors, complicated patterns, and words. The lozenge-shaped painting You Deserve Better (2013) features star constellations spelling out the title, giving cosmological significance to a mournful remark on the status of a personal relationship. Everything All At Once Everytime (2013) consists of vibrating lines emanating from the text and surrounded by geometric patterns and images of bottles, genitals, and a smiling face.
