Digital inkjet print, the image measuring 5¾x8 inches (14.6x20.3 cm), the sheet 8¼x11¾ inches (21x29.8 cm.), with Groebli's signature in pencil and his artist stamp with the subject number and negative date in pencil on verso. 1952; printed later Provenance: Acquired directly from the Photographer; to a Private Collection, Switzerland The Eye of Love (Das Auge der Liebe) is a tender photo-essay composed of 25 images taken during the photographer's honeymoon in 1952. The artist's intention wasn't to document the love for his wife, but rather to create a work of timeless poetry. Edward Steichen, then curator at the MoMA, discovered Groebli's work during a visit to Zurich in 1953. He acquired the Seated Nude from The Eye of Love photographic series for the collection of the MoMA and invited Groebli to participate in the exhibition The Family of Man in 1955.

One of only 69 copies signed and numbered by René ROEBLI. 47 original little black & white prints , spread over 16 heavy paper sheets mounted on purple tabs. The images of various formats (63 x 75 mm to 96 x 145 mm) show us waves, shells, beaches, trees and other natural elements in comparison or in superposition with close shots of female sexes. Rare.
