  • ROBERT GRIFFING "SYMBOLS OF HONOR" OIL ON CANVAS
    Apr. 30, 2023

ROBERT GRIFFING "SYMBOLS OF HONOR" OIL ON CANVAS

    Est: -

Robert Griffing (Born 1940) "Symbols of Honor" Oil on Canvas. Signed and dated on lower right. Griffing is a graduate of the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, studying illustration. After a thirty year career in advertising, he began to paint, in 1991, the Eastern Woodland Indian of the 18th century, an early fascination. His paintings focus on the time of chaos and uncertainty for the woodland tribes as they struggled to survive the encroachment of Europeans. Griffing's illustrational, photographic realism is minutely-detailed and tightly-blended. He is aided by an extensive library of books, historical papers, journals, and his historian and other friends who provide information and act as models in some of his paintings. He hopes that his paintings shed some light on this time period that has been neglected through society's romance with the American West. Artist: Robert Griffing Title: "Symbols of Honor" Medium: Oil on Canvas Circa/Year: 2003 Signature Type: Hand Signed Signature Location: Lower Right Site Measurement: 12" x 9" Image Keywords: Native American, Indian Artwork, Art; Ref: BD1819
