      Giles Grendey (Fraserburgh, United Kingdom, 1693 - 1780). Blue lacquer two-bodied writing desk decorated with Chinese-inspired motifs. 227 x 99 x 57 cm. The lower body is formed by four rows of drawers and a folding cover which hides a small door flanked by two fluted columns and six drawers. In the upper part there are two trays for candlesticks and it is topped with a classical pediment and a gilded crest. In the interior of the desk, in its lower part, are three drawers, some small trays for filing and shelves. Highlights among the decoration are two large figures of Chinese personages with the large exotic birds typical of Grendey. The metal locks, fasteners, hinges and handles are original.

      Fine and Rare Suite of Eight Antique George III-Style Mahogany Dining Chairs, third quarter 19th century, in the manner of Giles Grendey (1693-1780), London, comprised of two armchairs and six sidechairs, each with a serpentine crest over an acanthine- and masque-carved and pierced splat, to the padded seat, over a foliage-carved skirt, raised on cabriole legs headed by lion-head carvings and ending in hairy-paw and ball feet, armchair h. 40-1/2", w. 28", d. 26", sidechair h. 39-1/4", w. 25", d. 24".
