Small print of Chipmunk. Timothy John Greenwood was born in Chatham, Kent. He trained at the Ravensbourne College of art in Bromley and later at the Camberwell School of Art in London. He became a full time artist in 1968. He was a member of the Society of Wildlife Artists (SWLA) and was a founder member of The World Pheasant Association. Greenwood always had a passionate interest in birds and animals and all his life was able to translate this into detailed paintings in several art mediums. He held three one-man shows at the Furneaux Gallery (now the Pollard) in Wimbledon. For several years he exhibited his etchings at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition where his limited editions were invariably oversubscribed. In 1977 he had a one man show at the Tryon Gallery and four years later he had a joint exhibition again at the Tryon with the well known sculptress Sally Arnup. In 1985 he held an exhibition of Kenya wild-life paintings in Nairobi. In 1970 Tim was commissioned to illustrate the bird section of the Shell Nature Guide to Britain and later produced work for the Natural History Museum, The Shooting Times and Country Life. His first two man shows were televised by the BBC Animal Magic Programme. He gained more experience when he worked as a voluntary warden at the RSBP bird Sanctuaries at Minsmere in Suffolk and Fetlar Island in Shetland. Tim travelled widely all over the world in pursuit of his career and subject matter for it. He went on expeditions or visits to many countries including Kenya, Lapland, Norway, Morocco Tunisia, USA, Canada, Austria, Greece, Italy, India, Bhutan Pakistan, Borneo, Malaysia and China.
