Un esemplare è conservato al Museu del perfum di Andorra. Studente presso École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts di Parigi, Auguste François-Marie Gorguet fu allievo dei pittori Gustave Boulanger, Jean-Léon Gérôme, Léon Bonnat e Aimé Morot. Espose al Salon a partire dal 1885 e il suo lavoro fu premiato a Chicago nel 1892. Le sue opere pittoriche (tele, pannelli e sfondi) possono essere considerate facenti parte della vena del movimento simbolista presto sfociato nell'Art Nouveau.

GORGUET' en bas à droite Sans cadres (Restaurations) h: 61 w: 50 cm Commentaire : "La Princesse lointaine" fut présenté pour la première fois à Paris en 1895. Pour l'édition illustrée éditée en 1911, plusieurs artistes majeurs furent sollicités et les projets de trois d'entre eux furent conservés. Ainsi, Georges-Antoine Rochegrosse, Lucien Lévy-Dhurmer et Auguste-François-Marie Gorguet virent leurs travaux illustrer la pièce d'Edmond Rostand. Using her powers, she sends him to a magical island where she visits him in secret every night, never revealing her identity. During one of these visits, she gives him a sword which guarantees his victory in any battle provided he remains faithful to her. Ultimately, they are torn apart repeatedly, identities are revealed and then hidden again, all leading toward a happy ending in which the knight and his empress are reunited. For a slightly different treatment of the same opera, see Choubrac's design (French Opera Posters, 31).

Bel documento, con ampia immagine animata da personificazioni simboliche, realizzato dall’artista francese Auguste Francois Gorguet (1862-1927) e stampato dalla celebre tipografia parigina G. Richard. La società, con sede a Parigi, intratteneva relazioni commerciali con la Guyana, in America meridionale, all’epoca colonia francese e attualmente il più vasto dipartimento d’oltremare.
