Gorgon 1917' Wooden frame with gilt rococo ornament as crown Overall dimensions framed: 72 x 53 cm Good condition Provenance: Private collection, Austria View of the square in St. Veit in Vienna, executed in a finely graded range of colors and accentuated in opaque white here and there, showing influences of the Art Nouveau This watercolor created by the Austrian painter Vincent Gorgon is dated to the year 1917. Depicted is a view of St. Veit in Vienna with the parish church in the right image background. The composition in a bright, finely graded range of colors is accentuated in some areas with opaque white, whereas influences of Art Nouveau are still recognizable. The watercolor is signed and dated 'V. Gorgon 1917'. The paper is laid down on cardboard and overall in fresh and good condition. The image measures 65.4 x 46.4 cm. The framed dimensions are 72 x 53 cm. The frame shows slight traces of wear. Vinzenz Gorgon (1891-1961) The painter Vincent Gorgon was born in Vienna in 1891. The inspiration for his paintings Gorgon mostly found in landscapes from his native surroundings of Austria, which are still partly influenced by the style of the Art Nouveau.
